Zak found his passion for health and fitness through his experience playing hockey. Being involved in the sport at elite levels as a goalie and coach for over a decade, he brings a performance mindset to his training methodologies. Although he started his athletic journey playing numerous sports such as basketball, volleyball, and soccer, hockey is what sparked a passion for human performance and exercise science. After playing minor hockey, Zak went on to play Junior hockey, where he won a league championship with the Fort St. John Huskies of the NWJHL. Following his success in Junior hockey, Zak secured an athletic scholarship to play University hockey for the University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings of the ACAC. Alongside an extensive ice hockey career, Zak is also actively involved in inline hockey, where he has played in numerous high-end tournaments and was fortunate enough to play for Team Canada, winning multiple championships on a national stage.
Zak holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with a Kinesiology focus from the University of Alberta, where he graduated with distinction. Using his experience in athletics coupled with the knowledge gained from his studies, Zak offers a holistic approach to training that is specific to the individual. He considers himself a lifelong learner, continually expanding his knowledge base to effectively apply current scientific research in his coaching and consulting methodology. Having coached athletes from multiple sports and individuals with health-related, movement, hypertrophy, and weight-related goals, he has a broad base of knowledge and experience to help clients reach their goals!
